The first human traces in Bordeghina are from Bronze Age.
Recent
researches enabled to discover in the area a site from Bronze Age, 3600 years
old, located at about one km from the house. Probably it is part of an old
village on palafittes. In the area are present many archaeological sites from roman age, both of republican and of imperial age. One
of these is located right in the property of Bordeghina and presents the remains
of a roman villa and a second settlement from byzantine period.
The
territory of Pontecchio takes its actual configuration after the reclamation
made by the Ferrara lordship at the end of 1400. In 1560, as this ancient map
shows, the farm was a property of the Venice noble family of Grimani and the
structure of the building was in cannas and straw. In 1615 for the first time we
find the name of Bordeghin a Grimani’s renter who gave his name to the farm.
In
1775 catastatic we find a draw of the house in brickwork with stable and hayloft.
The
house took its actual shape in ‘800 when was added a floor for the granary and
built a big winery. The last restores are made from the actual owner in 1996-97
and 2002-03. Maragno’s family live in the house from the beginning of ‘900,
before as renter and then as owners. The purchase was made thank to the
extraction of marsh gas, activity the Maragno family made starting in the ’50.
In
the house garden existed a domestic well for methane extraction, active since 1925, which supplied the residence of gas for cooking
and lighting.
