What to  see in the surroundings:

Rovigo  ten minutes by car, chief town of Polesine province, located between the two biggest rivers in Italy: the Po and Adige. About 50.000 inhabitants live in Rovigo. We advise to visit: Museum dei Grandi Fiumi  by the ancient Monastery of Olivetani. Collects finds from Bronze and Roman Age (tel. 0425 25077). The picture gallery of Accademia dei Concordi in Roverella palace (tel. 0425 27991). The Rotonda church. The ruins of the middle age castle called the “due torri” (symbol of the city).

Fratta Polesine 20 minutes by car. The palladian villa Badoera recently restored and other renaissance villas deserve a visit . In Fratta there is a museum with finds from an old village of Bronze Age. Info by Fratta municipality (tel. 0425 668030).

Villadose  15 minutes by car. We advise to visit Cà Patella, the renaissance villa seat of municipality and the small but quite intersting museum of Roman Centuriation inside the villa. Every year at the end of August in Villadose is performed an historical reconstruction of roman imperial age with old market, and a lot of events reminding the centuriation settled in the territory in Roman Age. Crespino  5 minutes by car, village along the Po river with the wide square dominated by the eighteenth century church containing a famous painting of Garofolo. Adria  20 minutes by car. Of ancient origins (VI century B.C.) gave its name to  the Adriatic Sea. It was an etruscan town and then roman. Ferrara  30 minutes by car. City of more than 100.000 inhabitants, founded in the Middle Age, maintains marvellous monuments such as  the Estense Castle, the romanic cathedral, renaissance palaces and a middle age quarter perfectly served.

 

 

 

 

 

Monselice  25 minutes by car. Little town close to  Euganean Hills, presents an interesting castle with ancient furnitures and a nice armoury. The walk of the “Sette chiesette” along the slope of the Rocca, the Monselice hill,  is very suggestive. In September there is a Middle Age event  with parade, market and Quintana, a competition among quarters in middle age costumes.

 

 

 

 

 

 

The regional park of Euganean Hills and the termal sources  30 minutes by car. Group of hills high till 600 meters of volcanic origin. We advise to visit the Geopaleontologic musem of Cava Bomba in Cinto. In the north part of the park in some localities (Abano, Battaglia, Montegrotto) spring on surface hot termal water used in many hotels and spas for the therapy of many diseases and specially of rheumatic ones (arthrosis). Este  25 minutes by car. Town of 20.000 inhabitants, was before Christ, one of the capitals of Veneto Civilization. We recommend to visit  the national archaeological museum with many finds from ancient veneto civilization and roman age (tel. 0429 2085) and  the gardens behind the museum conserving the ruins of the middle age castle and walls.

 

 

 

 

 

Montagnana  30 minutes by car. Town completely inserted in its middle age walls,  perfectly conserved. We recommend to visit  the cathedral

 

 

 

 

 

Padova  30 minutes by car. Art city and prestigious university seat of about 400.000 inhabitants. We recommend to visit  Saint Antony Basilica, destination every year of millions of pilgrims, the Eremitani Museum, Scrovegni chappel with Giotto’s frescos. The monumental historical center reminds the history of the city.

 

 

 

 

 

The seaside resorts of Albarella and Rosapineta  50 minutes by car. Albarella is a private island, where you can acces by invite. The island is provided of beaches and swimming pools. Rosapineta is a seaside resort on the Adige Estuary inside a splendid pinewood

 

 

 

 

 

The Po river  2 minutes by car. Is the biggest italian river and in this area is large more than 500 meters. There are inside the banks wide areas for walking  or riding  horses for reaching little beaches where to tan. HOW TO REACH THE PO RIVER BEACHES BY BICYCLE

At a middle speed you need 30 minutes to go.

When out of Bordeghina you take the cycle pist on your left for about 500 meters. At the first cross you make a left along a little canal and you pass in front at Cà Salvioni a 1500 Villa with the noble emblem on the facade and the tower for pigeons. Going on at the first bridge you turn right and go on for about 1,5 km when you must cross the Eridania road and take a small street leading to the river banks. When climbed on the bank you go left and follow the panoramic road looking the country on your left and the river on the right. After some km you find a track descending toward the river, closed by an iron bar. You are just in front to the Rizzi restaurant. You go down and leave your bicycle to enter in the beach crossing a poplars wood. The beach is wild and there you can see many birds and see only some fisherman boat passing in the river catching “siluro” the huge fish living there.

 

The mill on the Po River  at Ro Ferrarese  10  minutes by car.  Close to Polesella’ bridge that links Ferrara and Rovigo’ province an old water mill was recently rebuilt. In this place  you find a bar and a refection area. info: Uff. promozione turistica tel. 0532/868444

Venezia  60 minutes by car. A magic city with about 50 museums, hundreds of ancient churches and splendid palaces. We advise to go by train leaving from Rovigo’s station and arriving at  Venice Santa Lucia Station. From here you take about 30-40 minutes to reach San Marco square on foot.
